Matchmaker (One-Shot Fanfic)

Matchmaking has always been my job ever since I entered high school. I mean, not literally my job, but I've always been helping my friends and a few mates at school with their relationships, and they always end up being together. That's why I consider myself the matchmaker. But I'm quite unlucky when it comes to my own love life. I've only had 1 real relationship and the rest were just disasters.

My name is Naomi Hart, but my friends call me Naya. I'm best friends with 4 girls named Sarah, Evanna, Lotte and Camilla. So this is my story...

"So do you guys have a prom date yet?" Sarah asked us. We all shook our heads.
"A guy from the soccer team asked me, but he's not really my type." Evanna said.
"No one hasn't even asked me yet," Lotte whispered. "Same here," I answered back. And so did Camilla. We all had our prom date issues, but for me it wasn't much of a big deal. I can go to prom alone, actually. I'm fine with that.
"Anyway, prom's still in February, and it's just December. So, is anyone going to the open party this weekend?" I asked. All 4 girls raised their right hand. "Of course we're all going! We have to! That's the biggest Christmas party of the year!" Camilla shouted.

It was the night of the party, and I wore my best red dress with matching black heels.

Lotte, Evanna and I rode a cab together and Sarah and Camilla had their own rides.
"Hey babes! You look gorgeous!" Sarah said as we walked towards each other. We saw the venue and our jaws dropped.
"Wow, this place is huge!!!" Evanna screeched.
"This is definitely going on my blog!" Sarah laughed as she took a photo of the place.
We entered the room and it was filled with loads of people. We decided to split up so we could check the place out. I headed to the bar area to sit down because my feet were killing me. I wasn't used to wearing high heels! I sat down and a really good-looking bartender approached me.
"Vas happenin? Can I get you anything?" he asked. His accent was adorable.
"No thanks. I just wanna chill." I replied. "Can I at least get your name?"
"Naomi. What's yours, sir?"
"Zayn. Zayn Malik." he said with a cute grin. Then a guy behind me greeted Zayn with a high five.
"Hey Zayn!" I realized it was my neighbor Louis Tomlinson.
"Louis! I knew I would see you here!" I said. Lou's a party animal, really. He always goes to these great parties and knows everyone in town. Louis introduced me to his other mates Niall, Harry, Liam and of course Zayn. A few of us swapped numbers and I left the bar area to go look for the girls. I found them on the dance floor having so much fun, so I let them enjoy the night. I had to leave early because I promised my mom that I would be home before 1am.

The next day I called up Sarah to apologize for leaving early. "Let me make it up to you girls! I'll play matchmaker and find you prom dates!" I surely said.
"Are you sure? That would seem unfair." Sarah answered.
"No! Fine with me! I'm willing to do it!" I hoped that I would keep my word and get them prom dates before February *gulp*.

I was on my way to the bus stop and I bumped into Louis. "Oh hi Naomi! Where are you going?" he asked.
"I'm going to the coffee shop to meet my friend Camilla. Oh, hmm. You wanna hang-out with us?"
"I'd love to!"
So Louis and I went to the coffee shop and I introduced him to Camilla. She shook his hand and Louis wouldn't let go. I raised my eyebrow, and Camilla giggled. That gave me an idea; Since I'm playing matchmaker maybe I could pair these two up and see what happens.
"Can I buy you anything, Camilla?" Louis offered. Camilla smiled and shook her head. I looked at my watch and said, "I gotta go, I have to pick up my sister from ballet class" It was the best excuse I could make so I can leave them to bond more. "Is it alright if I leave you two here?" They both nodded and I left.

When I got home Camilla texted me: You're a miracle worker, Naomi! Louis is so charming!
I answered: You're welcome! Have fun! xoxo

I was walking through the area where the party was held before and decided to call up Zayn. Luckily, he was inside the venue and I saw him by the DJ booth with headphones on.
"Last time I checked, you were a bartender." I said as I laughed.
"That's just my sideline! I'm really a DJ here."
"You're unpredictable, my friend." I joked.
"I heard your prom was going to be held here?" Zayn asked.
"Really? I didn't know that. I thought our prom was going to be at our school gym!"
"Well I found a memo confirming it." I remembered telling Zayn where I study and that's how he knew about our prom. "I received an invitation and was told that I would DJ at your prom. But there was a catch, I need to bring a prom date." he continued.
"I know someone! She's one of my closest friends. Her name's Lotte. I swear, she's gorgeous." I said and winked.
"I'd love to meet her then. I'll be here tomorrow afternoon, tell her to stop by."
And so I did. I called her immediately after I left the venue and she screamed her heart out.
"Zayn Malik is a famous DJ here in my neighborhood, silly!" she explained.
"Consider yourself lucky, miss! You're going to meet up with him tomo!" I said.

I'm pretty sure Lotte and Zayn will be psyched to be each others' dates, so Evanna and Sarah were next. I decided to plan a double date just for the fun of it. I called Liam and Niall to ask if it was okay to pair them up with my good friends. I also called the girls and told them to wear their best dresses on that special night. The fun part was that I spied on them the whole night. I sat at the corner table so they wouldn't notice me.
"I'm afraid of spoons, really." Liam said jokingly. Evanna laughed so hard and Liam smiled.
"You have the cutest laugh, babe." Liam said as he held her arm. Evanna covered her mouth and giggled.
"So Sarah, where's your favorite restaurant?" Niall asked with his adorable Irish accent.
"Nando's! Definitely Nando's!!!" Sarah said. "No way! I love Nando's as well!" Niall answered back as he gave Sarah a high five. But as her hand reached Niall's, he grabbed it then kissed it.
"I would love to take you to Nando's someday, Sarah." Niall whispered and Sarah blushed.
Job well done, I said to myself. I was satisfied to see my best friends happy.

The days went by so fast and I still didn't have a prom date. Someone knocked on my front door and as I opened it, no one was there. I looked down and found a letter on the floor:

You've done enough matchmaking, it's our turn.
Xoxo

An address below was written and I was told to go there. I knew it was Louis's handwriting, so I knew it wasn't just a fake letter. My eyebrows furrowed and wondered what these guys were up to. I went to the place where I was told to go. I had to go to the top floor of the building. As I opened the door, candles were lined up and I followed the path.

I stopped and saw a guy in a blazer holding a bouquet and he walked towards me.
"Hi, you must be Naomi. I'm Harry, Lou's friend." he said as he handed me the flowers.

"So Louis planned this, huh?" I asked as I raised my eyebrow. He giggled and nodded.
Harry was a genuinely nice guy. We talked for hours about random things.
"So I've been miss matchmaker for a while. It was fun while it lasted." I said.
"And you don't have a date yet? That really seems impossible, you're beautiful." Harry answered.
"That's sweet, really sweet. I guess I'm just not lucky." I patted his arm.
"Well if I get a yes, I may be the lucky one." he whispered. I smiled and held his face towards me. I nodded and he knew I said yes. He gave me a huge grin and hugged me.
